Aluminum Oxide (Al₂O₃) Content Acid-Base Titration (EDTA Complexometric Titration) The sample is dissolved and then an excess of standard EDTA solution is added at pH ≈ 4–5. After heating to ensure complete complexation of aluminum, the excess EDTA is back-titrated with a standard zinc or lead solution to calculate the Al₂O₃ content.
Basicity (Salt Base Degree) Acid-Base Titration Determined by the molar ratio of OH⁻ to Al³⁺ in the sample. The sample is first dissolved with standard acid, followed by back-titration of free acid using standard base. The basicity is calculated in combination with Al₂O₃ content. Formula: B(%) = (3n_OH / n_Al) × 100%.
pH Value Potentiometric Measurement Using pH Meter The pH value is directly measured using a calibrated pH meter after stirring the aqueous solution of the sample to uniformity.
Density Hydrometer Method or Pycnometer Method The density of the liquid sample is either directly measured using a hydrometer, or precisely determined by weighing a known volume using a pycnometer.
Insoluble Matter Content Gravimetric Method The sample is dissolved in water, the insoluble residue is filtered out, dried to constant weight, and weighed to calculate the percentage of insoluble matter by mass.
Chloride Ion (Cl⁻) Content Silver Nitrate Titration (Mohr Method) In neutral or weakly alkaline solution, potassium chromate is used as indicator. Chloride ions are titrated with standard silver nitrate solution, forming white AgCl precipitate. At the endpoint, brick-red Ag₂CrO₄ precipitate appears.
Heavy Metal Content (e.g., Pb, As, Cd, etc.) Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) or Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) After digestion treatment, the concentrations of heavy metal elements in the sample are determined using AAS or ICP-MS, offering high sensitivity and accuracy.
Sulfate Content (if applicable) Turbidimetry or Barium Sulfate Gravimetric Method Barium chloride is added to form BaSO₄ precipitate from sulfate ions. Quantification is performed either by turbidimetric analysis or by filtration, drying, and weighing the precipitate.
